What PvP means in the current description
The official Steam listing describes fighting and looting other players, large multiplayer conflict, and base raiding with corrupt magic books called grimoires. That supports a competitive PvP identity, but it does not confirm final raid hours, safe zones, offline protection, friendly fire, clan limits, or death penalties.
What PvE means
PvE public servers are explicitly included in the announced Early Access feature set. Official material describes survival, gathering, building, crafting, exploration, wildlife, enemies, world events and cooperative play. It does not yet publish a complete PvE ruleset or explain how theft, structure damage and contested resources work there.
Which should you choose?
Choose PvP if player conflict, raiding and competitive risk are central to what you want. Choose PvE if your priority is cooperative survival and environmental threats. This is general positioning, not a promise about unannounced server settings.
What remains unconfirmed
- Character or item transfers between server types
- Raid windows and offline protection
- Clan-size limits and alliance rules
- Friendly fire and structure-damage rules
- Mode-specific wipe schedules or progression
